Switching is Easy

Switching is Easy

Powered by green renewable and with a reduced charging rate, Energia provides the best EV electricity plans for home charging which is the most convenient and cost-effective way of charging your electric vehicle.

No need to worry about switching, once you have purchased your new car, our switching team will call you to move your electricity account.

When your account is all set up, we will get in touch with you to arrange installation of your charger. Installation is a quick and easy process with minimal disruption.

How does the Free* EV Home Charger Offer work?

  • Visit one of our participating car dealerships when you are ready to purchase your new EV. They will complete an application for the offer on your behalf.
  • Once you have purchased your new EV, you should apply for your SEAI EV Home Charger Grant to avail of this offer (see details outlined below).
  • One of our Energia customer agents will call you to register you for your new electricity plan.
  • Once your new electricity plan is set up, our trusted installation partner, Circet, will call you within a few days to arrange a video survey of your site. Please note that video surveys are not always 100% accurate but are intended to reduce the requirement for an onsite survey. If you are unable to successfully complete the video survey, you may require an on-site survey at a cost of €130. Please see our FAQs below for details of what to expect during the video survey.
  • Once your survey has been completed, Energia will send you a link to order your charger. *You will need to pay €300 upfront for your charger installation and if eligible, you will receive the €300 grant from the SEAI towards the cost of a standard charger installation. (See details of the SEAI EV Home Charger Grant below.) Additional charges may apply for non-standard installations. You can view our range of chargers in advance on our EV Chargers Information Page.
  •  Our installation team will then be in touch with you to arrange installation of your home charge point.

After installation, your engineer will support you in applying for your SEAI EV Home Charger Grant payment. You will need to submit the payment request form along with:

  • A copy of the engineer’s Certificate number 3
  • Test record sheet
  • Invoice from the engineer
  • Photo of the installed charger

SEAI processes payments within 4-6 weeks of receiving your complete application.

Important points to remember:

Apply for your SEAI EV Home Charger Grant:

Once you have purchased your new EV, you should apply for your SEAI EV Home Charger grant. A grant of up to €300 is provided to applicants who are owners of an eligible new or second-hand electric vehicle, towards the purchase and installation of a home charging unit. You can find out how to apply and more on the SEAI website.

Please do not proceed with any charger installation works before the start date on your SEAI Letter of Offer as you may not receive the full grant support available.

Please note that the grant process is handled entirely by the SEAI. Energia do not have visibility of grant applications so any queries need to be followed up directly with SEAI  as we cannot handle these on your behalf.

Check your eligibility:
