A standing charge on your electricity bill is a fixed daily charge that you have to pay. It’s used to cover the costs of maintenance and reading of your meter. Although the cost is fixed, it does depend on your meter configuration and tariff type.
The Energia electricity contract is for a 12 month period. If you terminate your contract before the 12 months is up there is a termination fee.

It's very simple to switch electricity supplier in Ireland. Switching to Energia only takes 4 minutes when you switch online. The information you'll need to gather beforehand is your MPRN & GPRN (which you can locate on your bill), a current meter reading and your bank details.

The night rate for electricity starts at 23:00 until 08:00 the following morning with Energia’s peak times ranging from 17:00 to 19:00.
