What is the downside of a smart meter?

Smart meters do have a few downsides to consider. Once installed, you can’t switch back to a traditional meter. Also, in some rural areas, weak signal strength can affect automatic readings, so you might need to submit readings manually now and then.

I have a day/night meter, can I get a smart meter?

Yes, you can upgrade to a smart meter even if you currently have a day/night meter. Once you choose your preferred plan, you can complete the switch online. If you opt for a smart meter plan, we will contact you within a few days to move forward with your application.

What are the off-peak times for smart meters?

For most Energia smart plans, off-peak hours are between 11pm and 8am. Some plans also include ultra-low-cost charging windows, such as 2am–6am for EV charging.

I have a day/night meter, can I get a smart meter?

Yes, you can upgrade to a smart meter even if you currently have a day/night meter.

Thanks to @Merve Yarer & her colleague Sriram, for helping sign up to Energia. Merve went through the 'Switcher' app with me, giving me confidence that Energia was the best supplier for me too switch too. And the sign up process was easy after that. I was initially concerned if the agents were indeed connected to Energia. However after a quick call to Energia's office, they were able to confirm their identification was genuine as they called back their id details of their badge to me. Merve & Sriram also gave me privacy as I was entering my bank details onto their online application form & they showed me how they cannot view those details after I pressed "submit". I have been wanting to change suppliers for a long time now, but hated the thought of approaching the process. However both Merve & Sriram made switching easy for me and I'm now looking forward to some cheaper bills!!
